Maintenance / advice

Β

For riding saddles & riding boots

Good maintenance prolongs the life of leather and maintains its appearance, grip and safety.
The products from Van Doorn Exclusief have been developed for high-quality leather, intensive use and a long lifespan β€” without weighing down or saturating the leather.

🐎 Maintenance for your riding saddle

Our leather care products are:

  • Safe for leather, rider and horse

  • Developed and produced in the Netherlands

  • Suitable for daily and professional use

The leather remains supple, retains its shape and does not get a greasy or sticky layer.

⚠️ What should you preferably not use on leather?

Β

Avoid the use of:

  • Oil, grease or wax

  • All-purpose cleaners or aggressive cleaning agents

  • Alcohol, silicone sprays or hard brushes

  • Excessive water use

These products:

  • saturate the leather

  • make it too soft

  • attract dirt and salt

  • reduce grip and firmness

  • accelerate wear and tear

    Β

Why: Because for years the leather has been covered and no longer open

πŸ“‹ Step-by-step plan – how and how often to use

Step 1 – Cleaning

Remove dirt, sweat and dust with Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Cleaner and a soft brush or cloth.
Then let the leather dry thoroughly until it feels dry.

Step 2 – ConditioningΒ

Apply Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Conditioner / Nutrition thinly with a sponge.
This keeps the leather fibers in optimal condition, restores natural suppleness and prevents drying out.

➑️ Usage: once every 2 months

Step 3 – Protection

After at least 24 hours of drying, apply Van Doorn Exclusief Derma Leather Protection.
This forms a breathable protective layer against:

  • sweat

  • moisture

  • dirt

  • salt

➑️ Usage: maximum 3 times a year

Step 4 – Interim maintenance

For light maintenance or after training, use Van Doorn Exclusief 3-in-1.
Cleans, nourishes and lightly protects β€” without product buildup.

πŸ‘’ Maintenance for riding boots

(not suitable for patent leather boots)

Van Doorn Exclusief products are suitable for high-quality leather riding boots, with the exception of patent leather.

They help:

  • to extend the lifespan

  • to maintain the appearance

  • to improve wearing comfort

❗ Important – patent leather

Patent leather has a closed synthetic top layer and does not absorb nourishment.

❌ Do not use:

  • leather cleaners

  • conditioners

  • protection products

βœ” For patent leather boots, a lightly damp, soft cloth is sufficient:

  • a lightly damp, soft cloth

⚠️ What should you preferably not use on riding boots?

Avoid:

  • oil, grease and wax

  • aggressive cleaners

  • alcohol or silicone sprays

  • hard brushes

  • too much water

These products:

  • make the leather limp

  • cause cracks (especially at the instep and ankles)

  • affect stitching and zippers

βœ” In summary

  • Preferably use regular light maintenance rather than heavy products

  • Less is more: apply thinly, let dry thoroughly, and you will make our products last much longer than usual.

  • This keeps leather safe, strong and beautiful.
