Grip Coating for Saddles

Field-tested – preserving the leather

The grip coating from Van Doorn Exclusief has been developed for application on high-quality riding saddles, with the aim of improving stability and control during riding, without compromising the condition of the leather.

The technology behind this coating is currently under patent application.

Tested in practice

The coating has been tested by riders in various locations and practical situations.
During these tests, among other things, the following was assessed:

  • stability between rider and saddle

  • control during riding

  • comfort and safety

  • impact on the leather surface

Its effectiveness has been positively experienced and evaluated during practical tests.

Alternative to silicone and rubber in breeches

In practice, extra grip is often achieved with riding breeches featuring silicone or rubber patches.
These materials can cause increased friction and contribute to accelerated saddle wear.

Van Doorn Exclusief's grip coating transfers the grip function to the saddle surface itself, allowing:

  • riding breeches without silicone or rubber to be used

  • reduced friction on the leather

  • the saddle to remain in better condition for longer

Grip under load and heat

The coating is designed so that temporary extra grip is created under load and heat.
As these factors diminish, the leather retains its natural:

  • suppleness

  • appearance

  • freedom of movement

This ensures the saddle remains comfortable and functional, without a permanently stiff or sticky effect.

Development and protection

The technology is currently in the patent pending phase and is being further optimized within controlled testing environments.
Details about its composition and function are deliberately not publicly shared.
